A vernacular mix of houses and cottages surround the green some dating back to 1400 and some newly built this year. There are a number of good eating places around the green which together with the Cock Inn make Fairgreen a most enjoyable place to be. There is a lot of history to Fairgreen and to Diss itself, and present day activities thro the year include Mr Grey's traditional funfair which comes twice a year, various Family fairs and some locally organised charity fairs and events. Both Mayday and the midsummer Solstice are celebrated on the green. The history of the green and the many characters who have lived and worked here is noted on another page.
